Each year, we try to do a large service project which benefits our community. We also do smaller-scaled activities year round to contribute to our community at large. Here's where you've seen us serving our community:
2012 Fall 2012 we put together birthday kits for families that are serviced by the Midland County Food Pantry. These included cake mix, frosting, candles, etc so needy families would be able to celebrate their child's birthday.
For a second year in a row, we participated in the Salvation Army's adopt a family where we provided Christmas presents and a meal to a local family.
2011 Pregnancy Resource Center - made a monetary donation and members donated gently used newborn - 2T clothes.
March of Dimes Walk - gave a monetary donation
Mother to Mother Fund - gave a monetary donation
We participated in the Salvation Army's adopt a family where we provided Christmas presents and a meal to a local family.
2010 Raised money for the Thrune Park maintenance fund to contribute to the ongoing maintenance of Thrune Park through the Midland Area Community Foundation.
Diaper drive for the Midland Community Diaper Bank.
Salvation Army Adopt a Family. Adopted a family by providing gifts and a meal at Christmas
2009 November 2009 - Birthday kits were assembled with candles, cake mixes, and frosting to give to the Midland Area Food Pantry Network. We donated over 30 kits for needy children in the Midland area. March 2009 - In what is now an on-going partnership with Pizza Sam’s, we teamed up once again and raised $125 just for eating pizza! The funds benefited the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw, where they were used to purchase two new swings and two crib mobiles. We also bought Easter picture frames and arranged a special photo with the Easter Bunny for all the babies in the NICU at that time.
2008 December 2008 - Once again we participated in the Adopt-a-Family project, and through the generous contributions of about 35 of our members, we were able to provide Christmas dinner and gifts for a family of 6: mom, dad, and four boys. We were also able to anonymously send a $100 gift card for groceries to a local family that some of our members knew were in need.
November 2008 - We entered the Midland Holiday Santa Parade with a tropical theme of "Mele Kalikimaka". Moms and children participated in this fun project while building a float and walking in the parade, and the parade fee was donated to Toys for Tots. This is a great example of how our club can benefit both MOMS Club families, as well as our community!
October 2008 - Responding to a great need in our community, we collected 155 items and spent $160 to match it for a grand total of 310 items donated to the Salvation Army Food Pantry. Our contributions were greatly appreciated as they were heading into the holiday season with very low supplies.
July 2008 - We raised over $3,600 for cancer research by participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life!
April 2008 - We teamed up with Pizza Sam's again to raise money for Midland Cancer Services, an agency which provides assistance and support to Midland residents living with cancer. They agreed to make sure our dollars raised were reserved for the children they serve. Just like last time, we brought the customers in, and the pizzeria in turn gave us 20% of the profits earned from our customers. We raised over $150 just by eating pizza!
2007 December 2007 - We adopted a family via our local Salvation Army. Our organization made sure a family in our community had a happy Christmas, complete with gifts for everyone and a Christmas dinner.
November 2007 - We teamed up with Pizza Sam's early in the month to raise money for the Backpack Buddies Program, a branch of the Midland County Food Pantry which provides a weekend backpack of nutritional food to elementary school children who rely on the school lunch program during the school year. We brought the customers in, and the pizzeria in turn gave us 20% of the profits for the day. In all, we raised over $100 just by eating pizza! Also this month, we participated once again in the Midland Holiday Santa Parade. A $25 donation to Toys for Tots was given as an entrance fee.
May 2007 - We held a garage sale to raise money for Shelter House and Let's Ride Summer Bike Camp. We were able to raise over $1,200 for these two amazing organzations. We'd say that classifies this event as a great accomplishment!
2006 November 2006 - We participated in the Midland Holiday Santa Parade. A $25 donation to Toys for Tots was given as an entrance fee.
2005 December 2005 - We hosted a Vendor Fair and raised $500 to shop at Wal-Mart for toys to be donated to Toys for Tots. With an extra $25 donated by Wal-Mart, our moms and their children delivered $525 worth of toys to the Salvation Army for their worthy cause.
November 2005 - We participated in the Midland Holiday Santa Parade. A $25 donation to Toys for Tots was given as an entrance fee.
July 2005 - We participated in the Downtown Midland Sculpture Series, Auto Be Downtown. Our members and their children painted a pedal car to look like a bug, named "Goin' Buggy." The pedal car was auctioned off for $110 with all the proceeds going to the Downtown Arts Fund.
